Being funny on Rove is a better reason than because their name is Rhonda. Ron Dog.
That said, he wasn’t funny on Rove.

I think Kevin Rudd won as much as anything because he’s not John Howard. People did want a change. In some ways fair enough. I think the Howard government did a good job, but what more did they have to do?

Howard’s negative campaign did him no favours. Rudd spoke to the people more, or pretended to.

Also, free university education is stupid. It would only encourage more people who don’t need a university education to get one (all those doing arts degrees). It’d be nice, but university is still cheaper than private school. And with HECS deferral possible it’s not much of an issue.

I liked John Howard. I resent that we have to be allies to someone – anyone really and that Australia has to ensure our livelyhood by supporting America. I’m apprehensive about Kevin Rudd and just what he’s gonna do. Will Australia go down the pipes? Could Kevin do something grand like make university education free?

PS: I think it was ‘Pop Politics’. How many actual ‘Political interviews’ did Rudd do during the election? From memory he went on a fair bit of FM radios/youth talk shows. Fluffing an answer to ‘Who would you turn gay for?’ or being asked the hard questions by Kyle Sandilands makes you PM material? When was Rudd actually challenged by political reporters? His policies were never challenged.

To those who voted Labor/Greens. What were you thinking. Oh that’s right, you weren’t. All you wanted was a change. It’s a shame you don’t remember the last time Labor policies sent this country broke.

I know the networks are calling it “Pop Politics”, but I don’t think Kevin 07 won on those grounds (ok, except for the girl, and those like her, in front of you in the line). He put up a clever campaign – He offered all that Howard offered, with a little less spending – the only two points they really varied on were Kyoto (which Rudd brought to the table), and the IR laws.
Australians are generally afraid of change, and his platform was not-much-change-with-new-and-younger-leadership-and-a-cleaner-environment. But then he did a shifty, and in his acceptance speech said he’d be the Prime Minister for all Australians, including Indigenous Australians and migrants, which he didn’t mention at all during the campaign.
Howard’s platform, on the other hand, was Peter-Costello-and-more-IR-changes-and-a-good-economy-that-we-have-the-experience-to-maintain.
